Based on my original piece 'Foxgloves', 2024.
This print is an exact replica of my original piece, measuring the same size at 21cm x 30cm and featuring visible textures of the fabric and thread.
The piece is inspired by traditional botanical illustrations, based on vintage reference books. The annotations are inspired by the text in these books and by gardening journals.
Foxgloves are a fascinating plant, they spring up between cracks in concrete, growing up to two metres tall, and producing pink, purple or white flowers which attract pollinators. They are also used as an ingredient in heart stimulants but can also be toxic if ingested.
Giclée (pronouned "jee-clay") prints are fine-art quality prints using pigment-based archival quality inks. This means your prints will last well over 100 years, and a lot longer than digital prints.
The paper is 285gsm.
Prints are sent in board backed plastic wallets.
ABOUT ME:
I'm a textile artist and designer working from East Yorkshire.
My signature drawings in thread are made using the technique of freemotion machine embroidery, by moving the fabric underneath the needle to create the image.
I believe creative skills should be valued and shared, so I often teach short art courses and creative workshops.
